A Better Way to Make a High-Quality, More Affordable Product
Oak Ridge Cabinets was founded in 1983 by Scott Bechold and Sam MacNeill. Scott and Sam were working together in a local cabinet shop and felt they had a better way to make a high-quality, more affordable product.
Oak Ridge's first home was a small barn on the property of Scott's parents in Durham, California. During those early years, Sam and Scott were among the first to integrate computer aided design programs into their manufacturing. They discovered Cabnetware, a new program for designing and manufacturing custom cabinetry that was well suited to their needs.
Cutting and Machining Equipment In 1990, through their labors and investments in technology, they worked their way into the present home of Oak Ridge, a large metal building complex on the southern fringes of Chico, California. With the additional space, Oak Ridge was able to increase production, expand the product line, and offer additional services such as prefinishing. There was even space for a showroom.
Sam and Scott are continually refining the manufacturing process with the addition of digitally controlled cutting and machining equipment. The idea has been to provide assemblers with extremely high-tolerance components which they can assemble carefully, by hand, into a superior product.
Today Oak Ridge is a solid contributor to the local community employing twenty-five workers and helping support various community activities.
